Lifelong resident of Denison, TX, Robert passed from this life Saturday, May 6, 2017. Mr. Hendrik was born July 15, 1929 to Clay Hendrik and Annabell Lewis Hendrik of Denison. He married Veda Nelms December 20, 1975 in Denison. He was a member of Waples United Memorial Methodist Church. He served as an Usher for 40 years.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 6:00pm, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, TX.

Lifelong resident of Denison, TX, Robert passed from this life Saturday, May 6, 2017. Mr. Hendrik was born July 15, 1929 to Clay Hendrik and Annabell Lewis Hendrik of Denison. He married Veda Nelms December 20, 1975 in Denison. He was a member of Waples United Memorial Methodist Church. He served as an Usher for 40 years.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 6:00pm, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, TX.

Funeral services for Robert C. Hendrik will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:00 am at Waples United Memorial Methodist with Pastor Cheryl Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Bratcher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hendrix, George Bradley, Ben Munson, Glen Hawkins, Scott Hilton, and Dale Avery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Ashburn, Horace Groff, and all Lions Club Members.

Robert Clay Hendrik was born Monday, July 15, 1929, the son of Clay Hendrik and Annabell Lewis Hendrik. He was raised on a farm in the Des Voigne community southeast of Denison. He attended Denison High School, graduating in 1949. While in school, he was employed at the MKT car shop in the storeroom department. He was later employed at Cross grocery store, and The Denison Herald as a paperboy. In 1947, he became a DS student and was employed by Babcock Auto Supply. In 1952, he became manager of the Denison store then moved to the general office as Buyer of the company in 1962 until 1987, when he retired after 40 years. He served on the board of Retail Merchants Association in the 50s, on the board of Denison Chamber of Commerce, and the Denison Planning and Zoning Commission. He was a member of Lions Club since 1960, and remained in Lions for 50 years. He served 10 years in the 36th infantry National Guard in Denison and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Mary Teresa Hendrik; a brother, AJ Hendrik and a sister Frances Moran.

Robert is survived by wife Veda Hendrik of Denison, TX; daughter Christy Hilton & husband Scott of Purdy, Missouri; grandsons Christopher Clay Hendrik of Denton, TX; Corey David Carter of Sadler, TX.
